Flight day! A 5am wake up call, for security & check in to only take 25 minutes! If you’ve ever been to any airport then you’ll know that this is practically a miracle. After a long day of flying (flew with Thomas Cook & they were incredible such good service and great room for a long haul flight). Having arrived, we then walked around, checked into our hotel and found a pizza place nearby to get our dinner. Pizza place- Stonebridge Pizza- East 42st St, handmade pizza, free wifi, yummy food… after 17 hours awake and all still going strong.
Thursday 2nd August 2018
Alrighty, today was a very jampacked day, we spent the day with family friends who booked a trip to NY at the same time as us (one of my best pals – @elisebowmaker on Instagram what a stunner 😉 ). So we spent the day doing all the things a tourist could do…
Walking the New York High Line
New York Subway
Ground Zero- 9/11 Memorial
Statue Cruises, Liberty Island and Ellis Island
Pizza place for dinner, this place had giant pizzas and comes highly recommended in the city. However, I only had a regular sized one, but we saw people who had to huge 16″+ pizzas for sharing, very tasty though.

Ellen’s Stardust Diner– Broadway Breakfast. To add some context, there are potential Broadway stars who preform in this café to earn money for singing and acting lessons, their dream is Broadway. This diner helps aspiring actors/stars to reach the true American Dream. Follow them on Instagram @ellensstardust. (Get there early if you want a table, we went about 8:30am)
Bike riding around Central Park & more rain… (may as well be in the UK)- There are many companies that you can do this with, but do your research beforehand if you can to find the best option- our great organiser ( a family friend). Went with the company – Bike Rental Central Park. (The fourth photo is from the rain as it hammered it down for the rest of the afternoon in New York… but there was about 20 minutes where it didn’t rain.)
… So we managed to walk along the designer shops street and saw Tiffany’s & Co – I got a tiffany’s bracelet from my Dad & Step-mum for my 18th Birthday so it was only right that I took a picture outside the famous store.
Rockefeller Centre– New York Views
Dinner at Eat Urban-this was basically a food court with fresh food, mixture of everything right opposite our hotel.
During our stay in NYC, we stayed at Double Tree, Hilton on Lexington Avenue. The location is great, however, we were slightly disappointed with the room, we didn’t have enough towels for the number of people staying, no basic amenities such as a kettle, coffee or enough cups for four people. But, on a lighter note the staff were incredible, so friendly and helpful and pretty central for NY, so we cannot really complain!
Next time I will be posting about more travels across different areas of America, these will be coming out in under a week!
